Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals have shown high interest in signing the Sri Lankan pace bowler Matheesha Pathirana for the IPL 2026. Both teams have started the internal discussions to sign the Sri Lankan pacer.
Pathirana, has grown into one of the most exciting young pacers in T20 cricket and his unique slingy bowling style reminds fans of Malinga. Over the last couple of years, his rise has been steady and impressive, turning him into a player every franchise wants in its lineup.
Over a span of four years, he has taken a total of 47 wickets with an economy rate of 8.68. Last year with CSK, he picked up 13 wickets at an economy of 10.14. He also has exceptional T20I numbers, with 31 wickets in just 20 innings at an economy rate of 8.66.
He joined the Trinbago Knight Riders back in 2023 and was set to make his debut in the Caribbean Premier League, but he didn’t play any matches that season for TKR. With Kolkata having a budget of 64.3 crore, they would surely look to bid for Pathirana.
